Probe works well as described. Temperature reading refreshes quite fast and accurate. Turns on and off automatically when the probe is extended / retracted. Knocked off one star because of the scroll wheel that doesn't appear as sharp looking and grey coloured as rendered in the product picture.
This thermometer is perfect for left-handed users like me. Most instant-read thermometers are clearly designed for right-handed use—the display faces the wrong way when held in the left hand, making it awkward to read while checking hot food. This one solves that problem with a clever center-mounted probe, so the display is easy to see regardless of which hand you use.
I also really like the adjustable dial that lets you select preset temperatures or set your own. It alerts you when the target temperature is reached with both an audible signal and a color change from green to orange. The only downside is the power-saving feature, which seems to time out a bit too quickly. Otherwise, i’m extremely happy with it.
The dial is defective; it feels stiff when turning in some sections.
